When you’re a college student, and you’re facing your first-ever income tax return, it can feel a little overwhelming. The good news is, you don’t have to go through this process alone.
To all college students in Orange County, we are proud to announce free tax prep services. These services are available via OC Free Tax Prep, in conjunction with the IRS and a diverse line-up of 30+ local public and private partners. Together, we have assembled a squad of IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers who can help file your taxes through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
And in addition to our free tax filing services, we can also help you optimize all your refunds and credits—which could include the California Earned Income Tax Credit.
About Our Free Tax Filing Services
Here’s how it works, in general:
- If you made less than $60,000 in 2020 and are a resident of Orange County, then you may qualify for our free tax prep services!
- You can get the help of an IRS-Certified tax preparer volunteer with our new Virtual Service.
- You can file on your own with MyFreeTaxes.com by answering a series of guided questions on a secure website. Once all input is received, your tax forms will be generated for you. It’s really that easy!
- We are proud to offer our services in a number of languages like Spanish, Farsi, Korean, and Vietnamese.
About the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC)
We want to help you get your taxes filed on time—accurately and without a lot of stress or hassle. However, we also want to make your refund as big as it can be! To that end, we are pleased to talk with local college students about their eligibility for the California Earned Income Tax Credit.
